► A knowledge-based environment to support product design validation (KBE-ProVal) of refresh projects (projects with minor changes in comparison with previous) has been developed. ► Captured the relation between the design changes with their required physical tests and the historical data of previous projects. ► Standardised the approach of developing “Design Validation Plan” and the risk evaluation related to design changes. ► Implemented the KBE-ProVal Architecture in the Teamcenter platform. ► Benefits: avoid repeating physical product tests, reducing time and costs for these refresh projects.
