Research highlights► Ultra-small Gold nanoparticles were synthesized in water with a new capping agent. ► The capping agent is a hydrophilic tri-block copolymer (BMB). ► The BMB/Au ratios affect the particle size, shape and polydispersity allowing their control. | | | 3. | Influence of hydrogen plasma treatment on charge storage characteristics in high density tungsten nanocrystal nonvolatile memory Original Research Article Thin Solid Films, In Press, Accepted Manuscript, Available online 27 January 2011 Shih-Cheng Chen, Ting-Chang Chang, Wei-Ren Chen, Yuan-Chun Lo, Kai-Ting Wu, S.M. Graphical abstractAn effective method has been developed using a new type of template for obtaining large amounts of uniform Janus particles and nano-bowls (several grams) with tunable shapes through seed-emulsion polymerization. Research highlights►A new type of template to synthesis eccentrical core-shell nanoparticles. ► Synthesis of uniform Janus nanoparticles with tunable shapes in large amounts. ► Different shapes of nanoparticles (from mushroom-like to bowl-like) can be obtained by hydrofluoric acid etch. ► The bowl-like nanoparticles show distinct properties on the inner and outer surfaces. | | | 14. | Fabrication of ZnO Nanowires and Nanorods Original Research Article Physica E: Low-dimensional Systems and Nanostructures, In Press, Accepted Manuscript, Available online 26 January 2011 Sadullah Öztürk, Necmettin Kılınç, Nevin Taşaltın, Zafer Ziya Öztürk | | | 17. | Effect of subsurface boron on photoluminescence from silicon nanocrystals Original Research Article Surface Science, In Press, Accepted Manuscript, Available online 26 January 2011 Navneethakrishnan Salivati, Nimrod Shuall, Joseph M. Research Highlights►We report the effect of boron doping of silicon nanocrystals on the adsorption of deuterium and the effect subsurface boron has on the deuterium desorption characteristics and on photoluminescence from a fully-passivated nanocrystal. Hot wire chemical vapor deposition is used to deposit the nanocrystals and the hot wire filament is used to dissociated D2 and B2D6 under UHV conditions. Deuterium passivates the dangling bonds and unreconstructs the Si-Si surface dimer bonds. By analogy to hydrogen (deuterium) chemistry on Si(100), the boron is reasoned to backbond with the silicon surface atoms and the next layer of silicon. The subsurface boron likely enhances nonradiative Auger recombination leading to photoluminescence quenching. | | | 18. | Structure, composition, and mechanical characterization of dc sputtered TiN-MoS2 nanocomposite thin films Original Research Article Surface and Coatings Technology, In Press, Accepted Manuscript, Available online 26 January 2011 G.
